  • Fake endorsements:<\/strong> videos of celebrities appearing to promote investment schemes or products.<\/li>

  • Harassment:<\/strong> fake images used to embarrass or blackmail people.<\/li><\/ul>\n

    How to spot a deepfake<\/h2>
    • Faces:<\/strong> unnatural blinking, blurry edges around the face, odd skin texture or lighting.<\/li>
    • Lips:<\/strong> mouth movements that do not quite match the words.<\/li>
    • Hands and details:<\/strong> strange fingers, jewellery or teeth.<\/li>
    • Voice:<\/strong> flat emotion, odd pauses or robotic tone.<\/li>
    • Context:<\/strong> is the message urgent, unusual, or asking for money or secrecy?<\/li><\/ul>

      Note that deepfakes are improving quickly, so these signs are not always visible.<\/p>\n

      Protect yourself and your family<\/h2>
      • Verify through another channel:<\/strong> if a relative calls asking for money urgently, hang up and call them back on their known number.<\/li>
      • Agree on a family code word<\/strong> for emergencies.<\/li>
      • Do not trust investment offers just because a famous person appears to endorse them.<\/li>
      • Limit how many clear photos and voice clips you share publicly.<\/li>
      • Report fraud on the cybercrime helpline 1930<\/strong> or cybercrime.gov.in.<\/li><\/ul>\n
